Department of Anesthesiology
AnesthesiologyAnesthesiology
at Saraswathi Institute of Medical Sciences, Hapur which is dedicated for safe anesthesia and quality intensive care services. The department is also involved in conducting various academic programs. Anesthesia is a medical specialty involved in the provision of life support, insensibility to pain, both for surgical procedures and childbirth. Anesthesia service includes preanesthesia check-up and optimization, monitored anesthesia care, regional anesthesia, general anesthesia, perioperative management, postoperative management for a variety of emergency and routine surgical and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The intensive care service includes assessment and management of critically ill patients.
Vision:
The patients and communities we serve benefit from the highest quality, evidence-based anesthesia, pain management, and perioperative medical care by committed clinicians, researchers, educators, and staff.
Mission:
To provide the highest quality, safe, caring, compassionate, and comprehensive perioperative anesthesia services for our patients.
Our team is committed to excellence providing anesthesia and related care for:
- Surgical and obstetrics care
- Regional and acute pain management
- Critical care
To provide the best quality patient care, education, and research through teamwork, safe practices, and innovation.
Furthering the clinical skills and providing a best-in-class exceptional education to a new generation of anesthesia fellows, residents, nursing students, and medical students.
Objectives:
- To provide high-quality anesthesia and intensive care with high standards of care.
- To increase awareness among patients about anesthesia in treatment and recovery.
Academic Programs:
Undergraduate Program:
The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care is actively involved in teaching fundamental knowledge and skills that enable to deliver optimal care to patients in elective and emergent clinical situations. Undergraduate teaching through lectures, interactive sessions, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training, gadgets, and live demonstration of anesthetic techniques will facilitate understanding and participation that are essential for all physicians.
Postgraduate Program:
Our graduate program offers advanced training and research opportunities in Anaesthesiology and critical care leading to Master’s degrees. Students have the opportunity to work under the guidance of faculty on research projects, where they can build expertise in the Anaesthesia field. Postgraduate students are trained in various anesthetic procedures like airway management, vascular access, neuraxial blocks and catheterization, nerve blocks, and invasive hemodynamic/neuromuscular monitoring.
Research Excellence:
Our anaesthesiologists conduct innovative research in anesthesia and related fields, serve in leadership positions at relevant medical societies, publish and teach courses on anesthesia. Research activities cover a wide spectrum of topics. Research done in our department is published in national peer-reviewed journals.
Facilities and Resources:
Regular BLS and ACLS programs are conducted in our institution for the students. Emergency surgeries are done round the clock 24 hrs. Immobile patients are provided bedside PAC whenever a call is received. The department is also managing the central sterilization supply department (CSSD) and hospital medical gas pipeline supply system including liquid oxygen plant and oxygen generator.
The department has a 120-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ICU is equipped with the best ventilators and monitoring gadgets with adequate facilities for bedside procedures and point-of-care tests. A team of dedicated intensivists provides round-the-clock critical care services to the admitted patients.
