The Department of General Medicine SIMS Hospital, is run by a team of prestigious Doctors & Residents which is led under the guidance of Dr. Anil Kumar Kem, Professor & HOD, General Medicine. The Department is divided into 8 Units for smooth functioning. Each unit has a unit Head, AP, SR and Residents are divided among the respected units and everyone works under the supervision of our respected H.O.D.

The Department of General Medicine gives quality care to the patients coming to the OPD as well as IPD & Emergency services.

Camps are organized on a regular basis for the needy, in which discounts are given on medicines as well as investigations and their stay in Hospital.

Guest lectures, CME are organized on a regular basis for the faculty and residents of the department.

Academic training is given to MBBS Students in lectures, seminars and clinical duties of various clinical cases on a regular basis. Good clinical exposure for MBBS students so that they can relate and have better understanding and learning about the subject of medicine.

Academic training is given to residents in lectures, case presentations, seminars and workshops organized by the department.

Clinical teaching for the students of Shri Bankey Bihari Dental College is done regularly for their better clinical exposure.

Patients are treated with almost priority along with interdepartmental coordination when needed, and clinical discussion is done on each & every case along with rare and good cases in the seminar room of the department.

The Department runs in following manner:

• OPD Service: 6 days a week 9 am to 4 pm. Regular follow up for patients.
• IPD Service: Sick patients requiring monitoring and prompt treatment are advised for IPD admission.
• 240 Beds are available:
• Male ward- 120 beds
• Female ward- 120 beds
• Medicine ICU: Potentially sick patients, requiring 24×7 monitoring are admitted in MICU under the supervision of respective unit Head.
• Cardiologist: 2 Cardiologists are available 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday, to take care of cardiac patients in CCU (Cardiac Care Unit) & for facilities like 2D ECHO, TMT, Holter.
• Emergency Service: A 24×7 Emergency Service is available by the department of General Medicine.
• ART Centre: A special ART clinic for follow up of patients on ART which is functional 7 days a week (Sunday included).
• Diabetes Clinic: Every Wednesday for follow up of Diabetic patients.
• Hepatitis Clinic: Every Tuesday for screening and follow up of Hepatitis patients.
• Thyroid Clinic: Every Friday, for follow up of patients of thyroid disorder.
• Oncology Clinic: Every Thursday for oncology patients.
• Endoscopy: 6 days a week, 9 am to 4 pm.
• Dialysis Centre: 6 days a week, 9 am to 4 pm.

RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS IN DEPARTMENT:

• Increase in number of PG seats from 10 to 14 in number.
• Increase in number of UG seats from 150 to 250 in number.
• 11 UG batch have passed out and 7 PG batch have passed out with 100% result till now.
• Cath lab will be operational shortly.
• Poster and paper presentation by the resident in various conferences along with participation in quiz competition and securing good rank in the presentations and quiz by the residents.
