Introduction

Radio-Imaging and Diagnosis generates vital information for the treatment of many   diseases, including cancer. The Radio-Diagnosis Department of SIMS has advanced imaging facilities and a team of qualified and experienced faculty.


The Department provides 24-hour service to the hospital and also involves students in the Diagnostic procedures. The teaching faculties are completely dedicated to this area of expertise, and train both undergraduates and post graduates. The faculty members present topics in Continuing Medical Education programs, Indian Radiological Association meetings, as well as state and national conferences.

 

Curriculum

Undergraduate teaching is aimed to enable them to be able to diagnose common diseases with the help of Conventional & Digital X-Ray, Special Procedures & other available imaging Modalities.

Post Graduate (Radio-Diagnosis) students are trained for diagnosing common & rare diseases with the help of various Imaging Modalities. They are trained to use the USG Machine with Doppler. They are also trained to be familiar with Conventional & Digital X-Ray unit, 16 slices CT Scan Machine, 1.5 Tesla MRI Machine and DSA & to be able to perform image guided interventional procedures. P.G students are encouraged to acquire knowledge of recent advancement in the field of Radio-diagnosis. We have the facility of pencil beam Dexa Machine in Radio-Diagnosis Department.

 

The department has all modern and latest equipments for diagnostic purposes:

  • Ultrasonography
  • Spiral CT Scan
  • 1.5 Tesla MRI scan
  • DSA unit


First arthroscopic surgery and knee replacement in this district was done in SIMS. Dr J. Maheshwari (author of Orthopedic book) conducted a CME in SIMS.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program

The CME involves a series of debates, seminars and talks on recent medical developments and future course of psychiatry as a science. During World AIDS Day, for instance, the "Psychiatric Aspects of HIV/AIDS" was taken up and backed by a talk on counseling.

Knowledge Exchange

At SIMS, the faculty and students attend conferences and seminars on a variety of topics to stay up-to-date in the field. Inter-departmental exchange of views is promoted through post graduate seminar. In psychiatry post graduate students are keep to present seminars case presentations etc..
