Introduction

Dept of surgery is actively engaged in Undergraduate and Post Graduate teaching and clinical work (OPD, IPD & Operations). The Department provides extensive outdoor and indoor services to both emergency and chronic cases providing tertiary and referral care facilities, besides attending to OPD patients. The department is undertaking extensive teaching and training of undergraduate and post graduate students through lectures, clinics, seminars, Journal clubs, integrated seminars, case presentations, ward rounds, and learning operative skills in operation theatre. The department also undertakes minor OT procedures within the OPD complex in addition to major and minor emergency surgery in OT.

 

Curriculum

The Dept provides excellent teaching environment for UG and PG students. The department undertakes special efforts to upgrade and sustain the recent methods of teaching & operative skills.

  • Major and Minor General surgery which includes elective and emergency operations
  • Laparoscopic surgeries including Lap Cholecystectomy, Lap Appendectomy, Lap hernia repair, diagnostic laparoscopy, and other laparoscopic surgeries as and when required.
  • Burns, Plastic, and Reconstructive surgeries: Flaps, skin grafting, reconstructive procedure, cosmetic surgery
  • Urology : both open and endo urological surgeries like operations on prostate, Surgeries for stones, surgery for stricture urethra, TURP.
  • Neurosurgery : Elective and emergency neurosurgery for EDH, ICSOL, Hydrocephalus and surgery for congenital pediatric neurosurgical disorders.
  • Paediatric Surgery :  Elective and Emergency Paediatric surgeries in cases of Ano-rectal malfunction, Abdominal Trauma and congenital anomalies.

The department is involved in continuous research works and has various research articles published in many indexed national and international journals.
